More About Fate Worse Than Death By Janice H. Mikesell

From "A Preface Intended to be Read":

The stories in my creative non-fiction collection -- in turn compassionate, misanthropic and darkly humorous -- tell of my experiences working as a registered nurse in large metropolitan city and state hospitals during the 1970s.

The unifying theme of these stories is the fragile quality of human dignity in the impersonal setting of a large hospital.

It is my hope that the anger and raw experiences of those years will interest those who are riveted by tales of hospital drama as well as those who are roused by the humanitarian and ethical questions these stories provoke.
